Acer 2920 DVD drive Quality

I say it sucks!
Just rent 3 dvds, Chuck and Larry, 10.000BC, and Crank. All of them stuck in the middle of the play. I was furious, who would not?! I was so concentrating and exited about the films. I noticed there were some scratches on the surfaces of the dvds, but the scratches were not that awful.

Then i checked by playing them on my friend’s computer. They played smoothly, no errors at all. It is Asus QuiteTrack my friend is using.

So now the assumption is … the dvd drive quality on Acer 2920 is bad huh.

A conventional way to get less spam

Once, i thought to get spam in your inbox is like the risk to get flat tire apparently it is not. The more you use internet, the more spam you get.

It didn’t really bother me, having 3 to 10 spams in my inbox, but now they have pushed me to the limit. I got more and more spam now, lately i found out, that happen because i joined to so many newsgroups and social network website.

So i have been googling, at the same time i am also looking for some technical explanation for my final project on how to spam, how to stop spam, the logic of spamming, how spammers get our email, etc.

I found some interesting things, some of them i never knew before, like how those spammers got our email addresses. It is actually very easy, it is called email harvesting. Using a simple tool, Atomic Email Hunter, i found it on the internet, you have to pay though to use all the full features. So the software it self is legal, but to spam is not.

I don’t need to use its full features, since i just need to find out whether Atom Email Hunter able to extract email addresses from the website or newsgroups i have joined. If email addresses are collected, it means that those sites are not secured.

From there, i moved to my yahoo email settings, then i made what is called as disposable email. This is actually making an alias of your real email address, but for Yahoo! it is called AddressGuard.

I don’t need to explain here in detail how disposable email is set up in Yahoo! Mail. Once you get to the options page, just go to AddressGuard and Yahoo! will explain everything, they even explain how disposable email works.

The point from what i wrote here is. Since i have used disposable email, my real email would be less open to the public, only to people i know. No more sore to the eyes and wasting your time deleting spams.

Sound Quality of Acer Aspire 2920

After a few times arguing with Rino, whose laptop is more cool, high tech and stuff hehehe, i am now confirmed that the sound quality of my Acer Aspire 2920 is disappointing, compare to Rino’s Compaq V3000, the speakers are Altec Lansing.

I don’t know the word in english for this kind of sound, the sounds like when you are plugging a big speakers into your small mp3 player. The sound output is not not strong, especially on high tones and bass. The sound on Nokia N71 is even a lot better.

But as a budget laptop i guess sound is not really a problem huh …

“Huh ..! yea yea yea .. Good luck” That was what came up in my head on the very first time i saw that public service announcement by Directorate General of Taxation (Dirjen Pajak).

How couldn’t i be skeptical? with all the walking-free corrupters, it is so doubtful, and especially that public service announcement doesn’t tell you how to keep an eye on the their use …

Give us some guarantees or at least show us what are our money used for, where, how and how much? be transparent.

“Lalu bagaimana cara mengawasi penggunaan pajaknya?”

that is the big question then.

I found it on youtube, one of the public service announcements, where it is very often appears on TV. There are some other versions actually. Maybe Dirjen Pajak knew their public service announcements are going to be boring, so they make more than one versions.

Strange sound-Is it a sign?

Suddenly this sound “tek tek tek ..” came out from inside the laptop. Wow i was so scared! Then i just turned off the laptop by pressing the power button.

I was wondering what happened. Maybe because i have used it for more than 6 hours? i don’t think so, because a few days before i left it online the whole night.
