Valentine’s Day Is Haram?

taken from www.istockphoto.comHidayatullah.com–Mejelis Ulama Indonesia (MUI) mengatakan, perayaan Valentine dikategorikan amalan yang haram.

Oh come on, what is this again. I think MUI should read more before telling this kind of stuff to the media. Go check and read wikipedia, the history behind Valentine’s Day is so holy actually, it has nothing to do with romantic elements, but people associated it with romantic love, which in my opinion is a very nice thing.

On Valentine’s Day, they exchange Valentine’s cards, they make phone calls to their friends, lovers, parents, kids, etc to say “i love you”, they express their feelings on this day. Well of course you love your love-ones everyday but on February 14th, you express it more.

Is it because Valentine’s Day is based on Christian culture? not an Islamic culture so they hate it? Ma’ruf said it is the way people celebrate it is haram, by drinking, partying and get together with someone who is not their spouses, well, i guess you can not blame people for doing that, why don’t MUI make a public commercial put it on tv to educate people to celebrate Valentine’s Day in not-haram ways?

Some people are worrying how consumptive people could be on Valentine’s Day, they buy things for their love-ones and who ever rules the economy get the benefits from it. It is true, but then again it is the culture of human i think for being consumptive, but then again, MUI as one of the largest muslim organizations may not say haram on something very easy, it is just unwise. Make something more educative, like public commercial then put it on tv or banners maybe and put them on streets?

If it is the tendency of over spending that we are worrying about, what about other celebrations? Idul Fitri, Christmas, New Year, Chinese New Year, even on our Independence Day we could be very consumptive, at least you buy flags, right, on Independence Day.

Drinking and partying, oh come on Ma’ruf, there are others who don’t do that on Valentine’s Day. I know people who only go to movies together or have special dinner, not particularly with their spouses, they maybe haven’t married yet only lovers or girl/boy friends, but come on, as long as they only go to movies, it is 110% OK, don’t you think so? hmm … now my question comes to a personal part :) is Ma’ruf a romantic person? let ask his wife hehe :) anyone knows her number?

Menurut Kiai Ma’ruf, tata cara dengan pesta yang biasa dirayakan dalam acara Valentine tak dikenal dalam Islam dan cenderung haram.

It is obviously yes. Indonesia is not a moslem country by the way. He better remembers that.

I strongly believe that anybody may say their opinions, but it will be wrong when it comes to forcing. Let us just see what will happen next, is MUI really needed by the moslem society? if this kind of thing always happen, i am sure, soon or later, people will leave their religions

Killing Me Hardly With Your Truck!

Isn’t it amazing, there are actually people who trust their lives to other people?

“The following entry is based on a true story, any resemblance to any person dead, alive or zombie is purely accidental and we assure you that no animals were harmed.”

I see it happens almost everyday. Today i was on the way home and i saw these young women riding a motorbike, it was a shocking moment, if i had my kodak, i would have taken some pitures of it hehehe and probably will win “photograph-of-two-young-women’s-almost-dead-experience” award.

They were trying to cross the Ring Road Utara, all the people who wanted to cross the road were waiting for the cars to pass by (well i suppose you have to do that, don’t you? unless you want to be a human jam), i dont know why but these young women suddenly accelerated their motorbike to cross the road, then “poooank .. poaank..!!#$%” this big truck honking at them and slowing down immediately, we who witnessed that from across the road look at them with our mouth opened. They were just maybe like a meter or two from the truck, if the truck driver didn’t see them, for sure we will have a new kind of jam, human jam, Sumanto would be very happy then hahaha.

But the thing that made it funny was, when we had the chance to cross the road, we still had to wait on the middle side of the road for the traffic to be less busy–you know, Ring Road is divided into two lines and there is a separation made of concretes in the middle of it–and guess what, there was a man with his kid actually yelled at them “mbak mbak ini mau mati yah?!” haha and we all starred at them, they ignored us, but i am sure they were also shocked hahaha.

*angry mode ON*

Windows XP logoFor sure I would push that button, the angry button on my body if I have on, my Windows crashed again!

By the wa, where do you think the perfect place to put the button? i think it would be handy on the left arm, dont you think so? like this film Predator, so cool if you have that kind of gadget on your left arm, want to clean up your room? “click click..” voila!! all your stuff will be back to its place, want to kill someone you hate? “click click ..” kaboomm!!$%^& hahaha, i wish..

Back to my Windows, it has been the 3rd times within 2 months since i got internet at home, it crashed because of the bug and got infected by viruses, i have my free AVG updated every day and firewall also. At the end of the googling, searching for the cures and the “how to” i gave up, then reinstall Windows. Then it happened again, reinstall Windows again, then happened again.

I don’t turn the automatic Windows update on, simply because sometimes the file got corrupted and bad installation might happen, especially when you are using dial up like me. At the end, still the only way is to have a fresh installation. i have installed DeepFreeze from Faronic. It maintains the state of your computer, you may edit the registry, install malicious programs, when you reboot your computer, you will see your fresh computer. Hope no more computer-crashed saga.

I know, this must have come up in your brain, why i didn’t just use Linux. My Venus VT-11 CDMA modem still not supported by Linux, at the moment i am using Mandriva One 2008. I have tried to recompile the kernel, still didn’t work.

And why do you think this could happen? is it Microsoft products are so bad that very easy for viruses/trojans using the bug in the code and brake down the system? or these virus makers hate Microsoft?

Based on my experience using computer, i have no difficulties at all using Windows, it’s very intuitive in fact, Windows 98, ME and XP, except Vista, Vista is such a downgrade version of XP.

I think this is more to the percentage of people in the world using Windows products are more than others, like Mac or Linux, of course when you make a virus, you want it to effect more computers don’t you think? hehehe
